If you were inspired to start a vlogging channel after watching other successful vloggers on YouTube, you’re not alone! You saw the likes of the Vlog Brothers, Charles Trippy, and Bethany Mota creating fun and interesting content, and you knew that you wanted to do the same.
Now that you’ve created a YouTube channel, though, how do you grow your vlogging brand and get more viewers? Here are seven tips that can help you get your vlogs out there and really help grow your YouTube channel.
Follow a Consistent Vlogging Schedule
First of all, you cannot underestimate the power of consistency. If you produce a really cool video and post it on YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter, you’re going to get some views. Your new viewers will enjoy your work, but they’re going to want more. Moreover, they’re going to want to know when they can expect more. If you upload great vlogs but you aren’t consistent, your viewers could forget about your awesome YouTube channel!
However, if they know that they can expect more great content from you every Thursday morning, for example, then they’ll know when they should tune in to your YouTube channel for more vlogs. The more you advertise your YouTube vlogging schedule, and the better you stick to it, the more success you’ll have gaining viewers who’ll keep coming back for more.
Create a Vlogging Plan For Your YouTube Channel
Of course, you do need more than just a schedule. You need a vlogging plan that you can follow to keep you on track. Ask yourself why you started vlogging and what your long-term goal is for your YouTube channel. To achieve that long-term goal, figure out a few shorter-term achievements and milestones that will help you get there.
Write all of this down and plan out where you want to be in a month, six months, a year, two years, etc. Then, whenever you start to feel burnt out or rundown, you can look at how far you’ve come and how close you are to your next milestone or your next goal.
You’ll have a structure that will help you stay the course as you get more YouTube viewers and grow your vlogging channel.
Create Viewer-Targeted Vlogs
Now, how do you establish an engaged audience that will keep coming back for more vlogs? YouTube viewers want to feel involved. They come to vloggers for advice on life, beauty tips, decorating, car mechanics, and much more, but they keep coming back for vloggers’ personalities and to feel like they’re a part of a great community.
You can provide that feeling and build brand loyalty for your YouTube channel by creating targeted content that’s specifically designed for your fans. Some great ideas for this include:
- Q & A Videos – Leading up to the Q&A YouTube video, ask your audience to leave questions in the comments. Then you can choose the best ones and answer them in your video. Be sure to give shout-outs and mentions to the viewers you choose. Viewers will appreciate the recognition and be encouraged to participate more in the future.
- Requested Topics – You can also invite your viewers to make requests for vlog topics that they’d like you to cover. Again, be sure to give them shout-outs when you use their topics or ideas.
These are just a couple of the ways that you can really cater to your audience in your YouTube videos. You can also create a video with a few of your fans using Google Hangouts On Air, which takes audience interaction to a whole new level.
A Strong Relationship with Your YouTube Viewers
Speaking of including your YouTube community in your vlogs and in the creation process, the stronger your relationship with your viewers is, the more your YouTube channel will grow. When you see questions, critiques, and compliments in the comments of your videos, respond to them politely and in keeping with your brand voice.
Answer questions and ask a few of your own. Lead conversations in the comments sections on your videos and on social media to keep them going. The more you interact with your audience, the more they’ll feel like they’re really a part of a community and that you really care about them.
This will build a lot of brand loyalty, and you’ll see a lot more people liking, sharing, and re-tweeting your YouTube videos and other content, too.
Build and Grow Your YouTube Vlog Community
Of course, you can do more to build relationships with your viewers than just responding to them in the YouTube comments. To really build a following around your vlogging channel, you need to create a strong community for it, and fortunately, that’s actually not a complicated process.
Host Twitter chats and live chats in the comments sections on Facebook and/or Instagram. Create a Facebook group and/or a Google+ community for your fans. Share exclusive information, bloopers, out-takes, and bonus footage on your social media platforms that you don’t share on YouTube (Snapchat, Vine, etc). Take polls on your ideas for new YouTube videos.
The more you get involved across all of your social media and online platforms, the more your YouTube channel’s community will grow.
Network and Collaborate With Other Vloggers
While you’re growing your community for your vlogs, remember that you’re already a part of a larger community of vloggers on YouTube. Reach out to other YouTubers in your niche and offer to collaborate with them. You can collaborate on social media, make a collab video, guest star on each other’s channels, or just give each other shout-outs in your own videos. The possibilities are endless.

Grow Your Vlogging Brand Off of YouTube
Finally, don’t ever underestimate the power of branding. Grow your YouTube channel’s brand everywhere you can, both on and offline. Post interesting and fun (relevant) content to social media. Start a companion blog for your YouTube channel and vlogs. Write guest posts for other popular blogs and/or magazines in your niche, on behalf of your channel. Create, wear, and/or give-away branded merchandise for your YouTube channel. Do as much as you can to grow your vlogging brand off YouTube.
Follow these helpful tips for YouTube vloggers, and you’ll place yourself on the path to vlogging growth. Keep at it, and you’ll notice even more. Remember, consistency is key!
