As you build your vlogging channel and your following, do you sometimes wonder what the top YouTubers have in common?
Well, if you look at their channels, many of the world’s top YouTubers have these six things in common. Better yet, they are all things that you can implement in your vlogs and for your YouTube channel without being a copycat or getting anyone upset at you. In fact, when you do, you’ll be likely to grow your channel in the vlogging world, and you may end up building connections and relationships with the YouTubers you look up to now.
They’re Passionate About the Topics They Discuss
First and foremost, the top YouTubers all make videos on things that they really enjoy. Have you ever seen a video made by someone who just didn’t care that much about their topic? You can tell right away that they would rather be doing something else, and you find yourself tempted to click away because, all of a sudden, you’d rather be doing something else, too.
If you want to start vlogging on YouTube, always choose video topics that excite you and always discuss things that you’re truly passionate about. If you find yourself getting bored as you’re making a video, think about why your topic isn’t catching your attention and how you can change things to make your YouTube video more interesting to you and your viewers.
Their YouTube Channel is Unique
You’ll also notice that the most successful YouTubers out there are all really unique. They have their own styles, voices, and tones. They express their personalities in their videos as freely as they create quality content.
When you watch their YouTube videos, you don’t just watch them for the helpful hints, tricks, and techniques they have to offer, and you don’t just watch them for their great product reviews, either. You watch them because they are fun people who let their uniqueness really shine through.
They Communicate With Their YouTube Viewers
All successful YouTubers know that their channels depend on their viewers. Your audience is incredibly important, and they want to feel like they’re a part of a community and a part of your channel. Take a cue from the top YouTubers and get engaged with your audience.
Talk to them in the video comments. Interact with them on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Give them mentions and shout-outs when they leave particularly great comments. The more you do this, the more fan loyalty you’ll get, and the more your channel will grow.
They Brand Their YouTube Channel
How much have you worked on your YouTube channel’s brand? Do you have a great channel name and tagline? Do you use consistent brand colors, and do you have a simple, recognizable, and attractive logo?
Focus on your branding. Create a branded intro and/or outro, and include branded merchandise (like a mug, shirt, hat, and/or background poster) in your YouTube videos. Doing these things will increase your brand recognition significantly.
Branding will give you a coherent and cohesive look and feel, and it will help people recognize you and your YouTube videos faster, too.
They Consistently Upload Quality YouTube Videos
It’s really important to have a set schedule for your YouTube uploads. Consistency is an essential factor for growing your vlogging channel. While some videos will always be more popular than others, you’ll notice that the top YouTubers always create high-quality content. They always write great scripts, film with good lighting, have clear audio, and do the best editing job they can.
You could even film a few videos ahead of time whenever you can so that, if you are feeling sick, tired, or unmotivated, you don’t have to make a YouTube video that will fall short on quality. Plus, having a stash of good content to upload when you need them is always a good idea. You never know when you’ll get a crazy project you want to work on, a last-minute vacation opportunity, or any number of other things that might pop up when you should be making YouTube videos.
They Maintain an Active Presence Off YouTube
Finally, most of the top YouTubers in the world maintain active presences online outside of YouTube itself. They don’t rely entirely on YouTube searches for marketing. Instead, they spend time on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, and other sites and apps interacting with their fans, posting cool content, and otherwise increasing engagement to grow their audiences.
Give these 6 things a try, and see what they can do for your YouTube channel and vlogs!
