Do you know what drives successful gaming channels on YouTube? When you see popular YouTube gamers out there who have the most subscribers, the most views, and the most engagement, gaming isn’t the only thing most of them have in common. They’re all incredibly different, but they’re all driven by exactly one thing – community.
Each and every one of them doesn’t just have viewers – they have a community of people who watch their gaming videos and interact on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, or even apps like Snapchat.
Building a community builds brand loyalty for your YouTube gaming channel and promotes a lot more engagement by showing that you care about your viewers and that you want them to be a part of your channel.
Community Name for Your YouTube Gaming Channel
First of all, give your YouTube channel’s community a name, and then use it in your gaming videos, your blog posts, and your social media posts. Naming your community is a fun way to acknowledge your awesome audience and let them identify each other.
This is an effective way to brand your YouTube channel, and help create a bond with your viewers. You can also use your great community name in your channel art, social media bio(s), and even when selling channel merch!
Establish a Presence for Your Channel’s Social Pages
Of course, just naming your YouTube gaming channel’s community isn’t enough to really grow it. To help do that, you’ll want to set up a presence for your channel’s community on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and/or any other social networks where your ideal audience hangs out. You don’t only have to create fan pages, though.
In addition to places where your viewers can see what you’ve been up to and cool stuff that you post, you can also create a Facebook group or a Google+ community.
Here, your gaming channel’s audience can post about what they think about the latest games related to your niche, what kinds of gaming videos they want to see from you, and anything else related to your channel. This will promote a lot more engagement and really help build your YouTube channel’s community.
Respond to Your Gameplay Audience
What do you do when someone posts a comment on one of your gaming videos or responds with a comment in one of your social media posts? If you aren’t responding to those comments, then you’re not taking a prime opportunity to interact with your YouTube viewership and engage with your community. The more you respond to comments, the more you’ll be able to grow your YouTube gaming channel’s community.
Interact with Your Gaming Channel’s Viewers
You shouldn’t just leave your engagement with your audience to the comments section, though. Use your gaming videos to further build your relationship with your audience and strengthen your community by giving shout-outs and mentions.
If you get a really great comment on a video, take a screen shot of it and edit it into your next video at the end when you’re thanking your audience for watching. At the same time, mention the person who made the comment and thank them for their input.
And, if you answer a question in a gaming video, don’t forget to mention the person who asked it. The more you do this, the more you’ll notice people posting great comments and questions, and the more community engagement you’ll get, too.
Start Conversations in Your YouTube Comments
Finally, you can grow your YouTube gaming channel’s community engagement by including questions and calls to action at the end of your gameplay videos. You might be surprised just how effective it is to say something like, “Thanks for watching guys. Don’t forget to let me know what you think in the comments!”
You can also ask a question about the game you just played or reviewed, news in the gaming industry, or just about anything you want.
As long as you’re asking a leading question and encouraging people to get involved in the comments section, you’ll be starting a good conversation that will help build your YouTube channel’s community.
Also, after uploading your gaming videos to YouTube, don’t be afraid to get the conversation going yourself. Post your own comment asking what people thought about the video and what they’d like to see from you next time, or about anything else you prefer to ask. This is a really great way to direct a conversation in the YouTube comments.
Be sure to implement these tips to build and grow your YouTube gaming channel’s community.
