If you’ve been in the vlogging world for a while now, you’ve likely heard someone mention audience engagement. People will tell you that the best YouTube vloggers are really good at engaging with their viewers, and that’s very true! In this post, we wanted to cover a few simple tips on how to get more YouTube viewers engaged on your vlogging channel.
Audience Engagement is Important When Vlogging
First, let’s talk about why you want to have an engaged vlog audience on your YouTube channel. An engaged audience doesn’t just passively watch your video and move on. When you engage with your audience and get them involved with the community surrounding your YouTube channel, you turn viewers into real fans.
If your audience is engaged with you and feels like you’re approachable and relatable, then they’ll be more likely to subscribe, like, and share your YouTube videos. The more engaged your viewers are, the more success you can expect. Now that you know why you want an engaged audience, let’s talk about how you can get more YouTube viewers involved with the content you create on your channel.
Know Your YouTube Viewers’ Interests
If you’re vlogging on YouTube about something that you’re passionate about, think about what excites you about your niche. Look around online at forums and on social media, and check out what others are talking about related to your YouTube channel’s niche. Stay tuned to what your viewers are interested in, and you’ll be able to talk about the topics they care most about in your YouTube vlogs.
Ask Questions in Your Vlogs
While you’re talking about the topics that your YouTube viewers are most interested in, don’t’ be afraid to ask questions. You can ask them what they think about the topic, how they’d solve a certain problem, and/or if they have any of their own tips to add.
You can also ask them what they’d like to see you cover in upcoming YouTube videos. Just ask them to leave their vlog topic ideas in the comments, and you’ll get a lot of audience engagement as people make suggestions and requests for your next vlog.
Reply to Your YouTube Comments
Speaking of leaving comments, don’t ignore your viewers’ comments. When they leave suggestions, requests, questions, or critique, go ahead and respond to them. Always be polite and professional, and keep your voice and tone in the comments consistent with your voice and tone in your YouTube videos. Replying to YouTube comments is a great way show viewers how much you appreciate them.
Start a Conversation in the Comments Section
Every time you upload a vlog to YouTube, you can always go ahead and get a fun conversation going yourself (be careful not to include spoilers). Post a question that you’d like your viewers to answer. Then, when you start getting answers, keep replying to them. Your viewers will love the positive engagement they get from you, and they’ll be more likely to return for more.
Create a Q&A YouTube Video for Your Viewers
Another great way to get more YouTube viewers involved is to upload a Q&A video to your channel. First, you’ll need to ask your viewers to send you questions, and then you can curate the best questions and make an entire vlog from them. You can ask for questions for your Q&A video with a call to action at the ends of the videos leading up to it, and you can post about your upcoming Q&A video on your YouTube channel’s social media pages.
Get your audience to leave their questions in the YouTube comments, and you’ll have plenty to work from. Then be sure to mention the viewers who asked the questions when you answer them. Everyone loves a shout-out, and you can get even more engagement and more questions for your next Q&A video this way.
Ask Your Viewers to Share Feedback
Finally, in addition to asking for your viewers’ suggestions for future topics, you can also ask them for feedback on your YouTube videos. At the end of your vlogs, ask your audience to share their thoughts and questions in the comments section. Then, when they do, be sure to reply and keep the conversation going.
By incorporating these simple techniques as a vlogger, you’ll be able to get more YouTube viewers engaged with your vlogs, and establish a stronger community around your channel as well!
