The world’s largest festival dedicated to YouTube’s community returns this September to Canada for its fifth consecutive year! Taking place in the heart of Toronto at the Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre, Buffer Festival 2017 will host a variety of programming revolving around exciting content being presented by many of YouTube’s top talent.
The festival will kick off on September 28 with video premiere screenings from over a hundred featured YouTube creators attending, and conclude after the much anticipated Buffer Festival Awards show on October 1st.
We at Vlog Nation love the opportunity this event presents for the YouTube community to connect in a very unique and inspirational setting, but even bigger is the opportunity for aspiring creators anywhere in the world to showcase their creative talent to the festival’s live audience.
During past years, Buffer Festival has set open submission calls for YouTube creators to showcase their best work, and it’s back again this year! The festival programming committee will be selecting one creator (regardless of their subscriber count or location) for each of its eight premiere screening categories, which are:
- Women of YouTube
- Travel & Adventure
- Short Films
Judging of video submissions “will be based on the quality of cinematic content, audio, video, editing, story, and other film aspects.” If your work is selected, you’ll be invited and flown to Toronto by the Buffer Festival team to share your content alongside other featured guests during a premiere screening.
Not only is it a really good opportunity join like-minded others, but it’s also a great way to network and learn from some of YouTube’s most successful creators, as you’ll receive featured creator access to all events taking place during the festival.
To participate, creators can submit a video for any of the eight categories mentioned above. The application cost is $10 USD per video submission until Aug 15th, which can be anywhere from 1-10 minutes long. The video must include subtitles if it’s not being presented in english, and should be in line with both Buffer Festival and YouTube terms/guidelines. More info can be found here.

All the best to our wonderful community of creators! Maybe we’ll see you there as a featured creator?
