When you have committed yourself to creating exciting, informative, and just generally awesome YouTube vlogs, then you sign yourself up to something pretty important. That is because when people start to watch your vlogs, they will quickly expect you to deliver more and more of the great content . . . all the time.
That means that you will have to make sure that you are organized; after all, you have other things going on in your life other than updating your YouTube channel. In amongst working, or going to college or university, looking after a home – and potentially even a family – your days can quickly run away from you. Before you know it, it has been almost a month since you have uploaded a new vlog to your YouTube channel, and your subscribers are not happy.
This means that you need to make sure that you are organized! Here’s a few tips that should make organizing your YouTube and vlogging tasks much more easier.
Decide On a Schedule
The most important thing that you can do, when you are trying to make sure that you can be an organzied vlogger, is to first sit down, and decide on a schedule. There are many different aspects of your vlogging career that you will need to think about.
For example, you will need to decide how often you are going to upload new YouTube videos. Consistency is key here, and your viewers will love it. That means that they will always know when to look out for another one of your new vlogs. Secondly, you will need to work out how much time it takes you to create one vlog from start to finish. Without knowing how much time it takes, you can never start to create a schedule.
Set Aside Time for Your YouTube Channel
One of the biggest problems that new YouTube vloggers can have when it comes to consistently making vlogs is that they do not set aside enough time to create them. That is why one of the first things you did was find out how long it took you to have a vlog published on your YouTube channel from scratch. Now multiply that number in minutes by 1.3, and then divide it by 60. That should provide an estimate on how many hours you may need to spend on making each YouTube video.
It may seem like a lot, but there are always problems that could occur, and you would rather have too much time than not enough!
Always Communicate with Your Viewers.
Being a good vlogger is not just about creating YouTube videos, but engaging with your audience! Whether you decide to communicate with your viewers through Twitter, Facebook, directly in your videos, or even through a blog that accompanies your vlogs, you need to make sure that you are updating it regularly, so that your viewers really feel as though they are a part of your vlogs. Organizing time every day to respond to comments, engage with your viewers, and tweet out your plans for your next YouTube vlog does not take long, but leads to a ton of great things.
Group Relevant Work
A great way to be more effective with your time is to combine relative tasks and objectives. For example, checking your YouTube inbox and video comments can be grouped together with questions/comments on social media. Instead of breaking down your tasks into small time slots, it’s better to group relevant tasks into main categories that have larger time slots in your schedule. This can lead to more time being made available for yourself. Yay!
You can also:
- Prioritize important work on a regular basis to ensure your main objectives are fulfilled.
- Make daily “to-do” lists to complete work that needs to be penciled in last minute.
- Make use of a wall calendar and go over it on a frequent basis to keep track of important dates and to update any changes.
- Change up your schedule every once in a while to avoid the feeling of repetition.
If at first you don’t succeed . . .
. . . try again. No one is born completely organized, and you shouldn’t give up at the very first hurdle that you come up against. Instead, you should see organization as just another challenge that you have met with on your journey to be a successful YouTube vlogger. With practice, being organized will start to feel completely natural, and will bring you one step closer to your goals!
