As a new beauty vlogger on YouTube, you have a whole world of fun (and potentially profitable) video creation, editing, and sharing ahead of you. If you’ve gotten to the point where you’re ready to make your first beauty video for YouTube, you’ve likely already decided which niche is right for you, and you’ve come up with a few great ideas for beauty vlogs to get your YouTube channel started.
As you create your first YouTube video, here are a few helpful tips to get your beauty vlog going on the right foot, from the very beginning.
Speak to Those Watching Your Content
First, when you make your first YouTube beauty video, pretend that the camera is a good friend of yours. Talk to your vlog camera as if you’re talking to a friend, and you’ll make your audience feel like you’re talking to them personally. This encourages engagement and interaction, which can really help the success of your beauty vlogging channel.
End Your Beauty Vlog With a Call to Action
Speaking of talking to your audience and engaging with them, always end your YouTube videos with a call to action. Ask your vlog viewers to leave feedback and questions in the comments section. Direct them to like you on Facebook. Encourage them to go check out your Instagram account. Whatever your call to action is, it should be something that engages your audience and gets them to get more involved with your beauty channel’s brand.
Use a Great Title for Your Beauty Vlog
There are millions of other YouTubers out there, which means there are probably quite a few people making YouTube videos that are a lot like yours. That’s absolutely okay. Not every video has to be completely unique (or we wouldn’t see nearly so many videos on YouTube), but you do have to come up with a great title to set your content apart from the rest.
First, make sure that your title is relevant to your topic and niche and that it adequately describes what you’ll be showing in your YouTube beauty vlog. With that in mind, you also want to make sure that your title is both fun and unique. Pick something catchy that will make people want to click and watch your content.
Use a Good YouTube Thumbnail Image
When you upload and publish your YouTube videos, you’ll be given the option to create a custom thumbnail image. If you leave this as YouTube’s default, you’ll likely see a random frame in your video. However, YouTube gives you the option to choose any shot you like from your beauty video or to upload a custom image for your thumbnail. Feel free to feature a close-up of the product you’re reviewing, add wording, or design something that will really stand out.
We recommend consistently using this option for the long-term because it lets people know who you are, is immediately recognizable to people who know your beauty channel, and it’s a lot more attention-grabbing than a random frame.
Use an Intro For Your Beauty Vlog
You don’t have to get really fancy with it, but you should definitely consider starting all of your YouTube beauty videos the same way with a consistent, branded intro. This can be a splash screen of your logo, or it can be a short (three to seven seconds maximum) intro sequence with music and animation or video clips. This is very effective for building brand recognition, and branding your YouTube content.
Fill Out Your Beauty Video Description
When you upload your vlog to YouTube, you might be tempted to skip the description, as your video can speak for itself. Don’t do it! Your video description gives you an opportunity to naturally include keywords into a few paragraphs about your beauty video.
When you write your YouTube description, you should be sure to include important links in the first two to three lines so that they don’t get cut off by the “Show More” link. If you have a longer list of links or you don’t want to place them at the top of the YouTube description, you can also write a sentence at the top encouraging your vlog viewers to open the description for more information.
Share Your Beauty Vlog Schedule
Finally, don’t forget that consistency and predictability are key in beauty vlogging success on YouTube. Your audience wants to know when to expect more beauty videos, so share your upload schedule on your channel description and your video descriptions, too. You can even include it briefly in your branded vlog intro, or call to action at the end of your YouTube video. This will help grow your beauty channel’s return viewership.
Use these tips to help you get a great start on YouTube as you upload your first beauty vlog!
